RTD FasTracks Southeast Rail Extension Construction Update

Week of Feb. 26 Construction Activities:

As part of RTD’s 2004 voter-approved FasTracks plan to extend rapid transit across the Denver metro region, construction continues for the Southeast Rail Extension project. Construction has begun on the future Lincoln light rail bridge.

The anticipated traffic impacts for the week of Feb. 26 are:

  • Sunday, Feb. 26:
    • Southbound I-25 off-ramp onto westbound Lincoln Avenue
      • From 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. – Free right turn lane restriction (crews will be placing barrier)
      • Monday, Feb. 27 is a contingency date for this lane closure
    • Southbound I-25 right lane restriction at Lincoln Avenue
      • From 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. – Right lane restriction
      • Monday, Feb. 27 is a contingency date for this lane closure
  • Monday, Feb. 27:
    • Eastbound Lincoln Avenue between Park Meadows Drive and the southbound I-25 on-ramp
      • From 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. – Double right lane restrictions
  • Tuesday, Feb. 28:
    • Eastbound Lincoln Avenue between Park Meadows Drive and the southbound I-25 on-ramp
      • From 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. – Single right lane restriction for sidewalk demolition and removal
  • Thursday, March 2 and Friday, March 3
    • Eastbound and westbound RidgeGate Parkway
      • From 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. – Various lane restrictions for bridge work
  • Trainstation Circle East at Sky Ridge Avenue remains closed for drainage work. Trainstation Circle West is open. Business and residential access is maintained.
  • The sidewalk on the south side of Lincoln Avenue between Park Meadows Drive and I-25 will be closed for about a month. Pedestrians will be detoured to the north side of Lincoln Avenue.

Construction activities are weather dependent and subject to change during the design/build process.

The Southeast Rail Extension Project will expand the Southeast Rail Line 2.3 miles from Lincoln Station to RidgeGate Parkway in Lone Tree. The expansion encompasses three new stations as follows: the Sky Ridge Station and Kiss-n-Ride near Sky Ridge Medical Center; a second Kiss-n-Ride at the future Lone Tree City Center Station; and a 1,300-space Park-n-Ride at the RidgeGate Parkway Station. The 2.3-mile extension includes a 5-span, 620-foot-long bridge over Lincoln Avenue; an 11-span, 1,397-foot-long bridge over I-25 and a 4-span, 506-foot-long bridge over RidgeGate Parkway.
