Don’t send “postcards from the road”; love music and more at Festival Park Aug. 2

Have you found yourself saying, “I need a breather?” The Town has the perfect solution. Enjoy the “summer sounds” in Castle Rock Friday, Aug. 2. Mike Nash and the Southern Drawl Band will take over Festival Park for First Fridays.

Mike Nash and the Southern Drawl Band will bring their southern-rockin’ Country music all the way from Tennessee. Head to Festival Park to enjoy live music, food trucks, cocktails, kids activities and more. Cocktails and family fun begins around 5 p.m., and live music begins at 6 p.m. The festivities continued until 9 p.m.

With yard games, family friendly activities and a themed run/walk, First Fridays are perfect nights to bring the entire family Downtown. Details for the entire season can be found at CRgov.com/FirstFridays, or follow the event posts on the Town’s Facebook page (CRgov).

Beards, brew and barbecue at First Fridays

Before you indulge in the Friday fun, the 5K After 5 series will keep you moving through the summer season. August’s theme is a “Beerded” 5K. The run begins at 5:30 p.m., and registration is available the day of the event.

Start the run/walk at Festival Park sporting your own facial hair or wearing a fake ZZ Top beard. Prizes will be awarded for the coolest beard and best dressed. Plus, participants will receive a free beer or soft drink after the run.

Entries are $15 per race. Children under 12 are free. More information is available at CRgov.com/FirstFridays.
