“Remarkable response” to Douglas County’s $10 million commitment to schools
Less than five months after the May 7 STEM School shooting in Highlands Ranch, the majority of schools in Douglas County are one step closer to receiving a portion of the $10 million commitment from Douglas County Government for physical school security and mental health for students.
Sept. 17 was the deadline for applicants to request funds from the County government’s one-time commitment of $10 million, the response to which the Board of Douglas County Commissioners described as “remarkable.”
Applications were received from neighborhood, private and charter schools throughout Douglas County. To protect the integrity of the evaluation and awards process, the number of applications, names of applicants, and appropriate application content will be disclosed following completion of this process.
The Board is committed to finalizing the process as soon as reasonably possible, with a completion date yet to be determined. Please see attached chronology for additional details.
