Humane Colorado, formerly Dumb Friends League (DFL), is one of America's leading animal shelters. Humane Colorado offers adoption services for dogs, cats, and horses, and spay and neuter services. Established in 1910, Humane Colorado is the largest independent, nonprofit community-based animal shelter in the Rocky Mountain region. With locations in Castle Rock, Denver, Alamosa, Franktown, and the CSU Spur Campus, Humane Colorado served more than 46,000 animals in fiscal year 2025 and counted over 299,000 nights of safety to animals in need.
